The district formed from the earlier Fall City, Snoqualmie, and North Bend districts, and its campuses serve the valley's growing residential base.

State Routes 202 and 203 intersect in Fall City, making the community a valley crossroads. SR 202 runs west toward Redmond and the Eastside tech corridor and east toward Snoqualmie and Snoqualmie Pass, while SR 203 heads north toward Duvall and Monroe. Seattle lies about 25 miles west, reached via the I-90 corridor, though the community itself has no transit or rail stop. Most residents drive, and a small private airport east of town serves general aviation.

Snoqualmie Falls, one of Washington's most popular scenic attractions, sits just upstream and anchors the valley's tourism.
